Telling stories through song
Nick's songs tell stories, often about the characters, history and folklore of his native Shropshire. There's more personal stuff too and songs about travels in Scotland and North America - contemporary acoustic music rooted in the folk tradition.
Live shows feature his trademark driving guitar style with plenty of opportunity to join in with choruses.
Nick has performed at clubs and festivals in the USA and UK. He has been featured on Pennsylvania radio stations WVIA and WQSU and on the New Jersey show "Down Jersey" and also performed for the prestigious Philadelphia Folk Song Society.
In the UK his music has been featured in programmes on Lionheart Radio, Radio Saltire, Salford City Radio, BBC Radio Shropshire, Zetland FM and Radio Glannau Dyfrdwy / Radio Deeside.
Music from his 3 CDs is now available for download via Bandcamp and selected songs are on all the major streaming services (Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music etc.)
In 2019 performances featured the new acoustic band with Tom Sykes on percussion, MM Sykes on recorders and vocals and Tim Skelton on bass. During 2021 Nick has been writing and rehearsing a new set of songs for an electric band called The Longship and will be gigging from early 2022 with a new line up of Kevin Johnston on drums and Tim Skelton on bass. About the new project he says "It's rock and blues / rock, it's loud and electric and were having a lot of fun with it"
He'll still be doing the solo acoustic music and already has some dates booked at folk and acoustic music venues for 2023
